The Process of Ordering your Bespoke Cake
Please complete our questionnaire with your event details. Alternatively, you are welcome to email me with your event date, venue location and address, guest count and any other details you'd like to include, and photo inspiration of your dream cake.

As general guide:

6-8 months in advance for weddings (peak season March-May + Sept.-Nov.)

2+ months ahead for other celebrations

2-3 weeks in advance to book tasting + consultation
However, we can sometimes accommodate last-minute orders depending on our current availability. For orders placed within one week of the event date, a rush fee will be applied.
It Starts with Inspiration!
During your consultation, we'll dive into the feel and vision for your wedding, discussing both your ideas for the cake and the overall ambiance of your special day. As you enjoy a tasting from our freshly prepared cake menu, we’ll explore the different flavors and combinations that resonate with you. If needed, I’ll provide a preliminary sketch and we’ll fine-tune the details until we’re completely satisfied with the design. Lastly, you’ll pick flavors for your cake.

If meeting in-person isn’t in the feasible, we are happy to offer consultations virtually with a tasting box for pickup or delivery.
Proposal
After our initial consultation and we have determined the direction of your cake design, a proposal will be prepared and sent to you. This may include inspiration images, the sketch from our consultation meeting, and a description of the cake we designed. Upon approval of your proposal and confirmation, a retainer is required to secure your date.
Quotes are valid for only 7 days. We do not accept tentative bookings; only formal quotes that are approved by you and accompanied by a retainer reserving your event date.
Book A Wedding Tasting!
We recommend scheduling your tasting at least 2 weeks in advance. While we try to accommodate last-minute requests, availability may vary. In-person tastings are scheduled during the hours listed below, based on availability. Please provide at least three possible dates and times when inquiring. If an in-person meeting isn't possible, we can arrange a tasting box for pickup or delivery, followed by a virtual meeting.

Given their fragile and perishable nature, cakes are delivered no more than 3 hours before they’re scheduled to be cut. We coordinate with your venue or wedding planner for a discreet delivery, either before guests arrive or during the cocktail hour.

CAN MY FLORIST DECORATE MY CAKE?
We are open to it collaborating with your florist. However, for food safety and insurance reasons, only Sweet Pea team members are permitted to decorate our cakes. We take great pride in adding the finishing touches, including arranging and styling flowers and botanicals, to ensure they align perfectly with our design vision.

DO YOU MAKE SUGAR-FREE, NUT-FREE, VEGAN OR GLUTEN FREE?
Most of our cakes can be made gluten-free. While some flavors are nut-free, please be aware that our kitchen is not nut-free. We take precautions to keep ingredients separate, but cakes may still contain traces of nuts. We do not offer sugar-free or vegan options.

CAN I PICK UP MY CAKE?
We offer order pickups for cakes up to 2 tiers or dessert orders only. Our cakes are carefully prepared for travel, with internal support for stability. For pickups, we suggest placing the cake in the boot space (trunk of your car) or on the floor with the AC on to keep it cool. Please note, Sweet Pea is not responsible for any damages post-pickup or after onsite setup.

We highly recommend delivery for cakes with multiple tiers due to their weight and fragility. In case of any mishaps, our team or I will be available to assist with repairs as needed.

DO YOU HAVE A RETAIL SHOP?
Currently, Sweet Pea Cakery operates as a licensed and insured cottage bakery in La Cañada Flintridge, CA. Our cakes and desserts are made-to-order and available by appointment only. We do not have cakes and desserts readily available. Upon payment confirmation, our full address is provided for order pickups and tastings.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Retainer, deposit and booking fees are non-refundable for any cancellation reasons. Wedding cake cancellations are accepted no later than 45 days prior to the event date and for all other orders no later than 21 days prior to the event date. If the production of your cake has commenced, you may be charged for any design components already made.​Any major changes to your order less than the above time frame before the required delivery date may incur a fee to cover the reworking of the cake design and/or loss of work already completed on the order. ​Creating your cake is a multi-day process, including inventory ordering, baking, and designing. Hence, to efficiently fulfill orders, we begin this process days in advance before your order is due.
