The Process of Ordering A Cake!
INQUIRE
Please complete out our inquiry form and provide as much detail as possible. We welcome any inspiration photos, stationary, mood board, shared links of your dream cake. The more detail provided, the better for us to prepare a detailed proposal for you. Photos of cakes by other designers will be used as inspiration, however please note that we do not directly copy.

PROPOSAL
Once we receive your inquiry and have confirmed our availability, we will provide general pricing information and size options. We will also use this opportunity to ask any further questions as needed to ensure a seamless process. Once we have determined details and design, a brief/formal proposal is then provided for your review.

BOOKING
If all looks good, and you have accepted our proposal, a 50% retainer will be required within 7 days to secure your booking. The final payment as well as your guest count is due one month prior to your event. For bookings made with less than one month notice, or value of $300 or less, full payment is required.
We do not accept tentative bookings. Bookings are confirmed once a formal proposal is received and retainer paid.
Order Minimum
Our work is unique and so are you and the details surrounding your event! Pricing is extremely dependent on design intricacy and cake size (diameter and height). Decorations
are all made by hand. Sugar flowers are made from buttercream or a sugar-and-gum medium called gumpaste, while other details such as tiles, wraps, textural and sculptural elements are made from fondant and edible wafer paper. The use of fresh flowers are welcome, but our preference is to work with edible-food safe mediums.

Buttercream vs. Fondant
Sweet Pea Cakery LA specializes in creating stunning cakes primarily with buttercream or fondant occasionally. While we primarily work with buttercream, we understand the importance of choosing the right finish for your cake. That's why we offer both buttercream and fondant options. Our buttercream cakes are perfect for those who prefer a classic, nostalgic look, while our fondant cakes offer a sleek and modern finish. We'll work with you to determine which option is best for your cake based on the design concept and cake structure.
When should I place an order?
As early as possible! Our calendar fills up quickly, and have limited availability. Because of the care and attention to detail that go into our cakes and desserts. We recommend securing your date on our calendar:

6-9 months in advance for your wedding;
2 months for your celebrations
We always try to accommodate last minute orders, but once a week is fully booked we stop taking orders. If you’re wondering whether your date is still open, please fill out an inquiry form and we’ll let you know!
Do you offer tastings & consultations?
Yes! ​We offer tastings for wedding and event cake orders of 50 or more servings. Our curated cake tasting boxes feature 4 flavors of your choice. Tasting & consultations are by appointment only on Wednesdays & Thursdays from 10 am-2 pm, and Saturday throughout the day, or scheduled pickup. If you prefer a weekend tasting, we recommend reaching out at least one month lead time, as these slots book up quickly. Email hello@sweetpea-la.com for more information.
Do you set-up and deliver?
Yes! We offer delivery throughout the greater Los Angeles area from La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011. Cake deliveries are inclusive of set up and styling of flowers and botanicals on the cake because we prefer to finish our own cakes based on our design vision.

Can I pickup my cake?
Yes! We always welcome pickups at our shop if the cake is 1-2 tiers or just desserts are ordered. We take great care in preparing our cakes so they are internally supported and sturdy enough to travel. We also recommend that cakes travel in the trunk or on the floor of the car, so they move with the car and are less likely to become damaged and with the air conditioning on to help keep it cool during transit. However, we cannot accept responsibility for any damages to your order after it has left our kitchen and after set-up.
Do you have a storefront?
Not at the moment! We are licensed and insured cottage bakery in foothills of La Canada Flintridge, CA.
Do you have cakes available daily?
We are not a retail storefront, therefore all our offerings are baked to order and advance notice is required.
Do you make sugar free, nut-free, vegan or gluten free?
Not at this time. Unfortunately, we are not currently able to accommodate any special dietary requests. We do have some cake flavors that do not contain nuts, however, all cakes are made in a kitchen that is not nut-free. Every effort is taken to ensure ingredients remain separated, but cakes may contain traces of nuts.
